In the American education these ideas keep coming and going. One persons ideas are added and subtracted to our daily lives as teachers. Then another comes along to add and suggest and we change our thoughts, behaviors, our actions. Just like our lives are never stopped our education process is contenualy changing. This change can be difficult for some and exciting for others. But if your foundation in education is solid and you feel confident then it doesn't matter how the blocks are arranged. Or does it?
If American education is build on the educational history of other societies and of course its own young history then why do we keep trying to improve it? Is it in our nature to keep trying to improve? There is a famous quote from president Ronald Regan where he said we need to look to our past to see our future and live for it.
"While I take inspiration from the past, like most Americans, I live for the future."

From preschool to college we are teaching one block at a time building on the teachers who taught before us. We hope to educate and teach our students to be better for their next educational step. That is using the past to look to the future.
As a future teacher leader I hope to build up not only my students, but my community around me. I hope to support teachers and paraprofessionals in their goals. I hope to create solid relationships through effective communication and discussions.
Through out this program and course I hope to gain the skills, build on talents and understand how to lead myself and others. Through this process I will be adding on to the foundation of my own education, personal philosophy and build myself to be a better teacher.
Hi Shauna,
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree that unless one has a good foundation, nothing can be built on it that will withstand the changes of society. Like a house, if it's going to last, the first thing one needs is a good foundation.
I think you words are rock solid and I sincerely hope that they stand strong. We need to be dynamic but as i think you indicated, change for the sake of change may not be the best course.
I also wish Reagan looked more at the past for his future policies we are just now paying for. Like Reagan also said when lobbied by the lumber industry, "If you've seen one sequoia, you've seen them all."
Thanks for the help last night. I think I figured it out. If this posts, it means I did it! As a science person I hate to use the word miraculous but this truly would be.
DeleteAgain, no offense was intended by and my absolute apologies if there was. One thing the man di was evoke deep passion in people across the board.
Thanks again
I gotta learn to proof read!!! It's been my downfall since elementary school.

Again, no offense was intended by my comment and quote and my absolute apologies to all who might have been. One thing the man did was evoke deep passion in people across the board.

No offense taken. Everyone has an opinion. I was much to young to know political issues when he was president. I liked the thought of looking to history and seeing the good and then using that to help for today and the future.
DeleteAnd I am pretty sure they stopped logging sequoia trees a long time ago because it's not good lumber, but it sounds like you would know more then me about this issue.
I think your ideas about looking to the future and building for a better tomorrow are inspiring. Leaders absolutely have to have foresight and vision to stay ahead of the game.
ReplyDeleteI am one who believes Reagan was a great leader and we can learn a lot for the way he guided our country. I appreciate the quote you used!
Hi Shauna,
ReplyDeleteI love your comments about building a strong community as well as a strong classroom. A teacher's influence does expand out to the community one block at a time. Great ideas!
